Usage: This category can be used on the individual page for any person with any ancestor known or believed to have come from Scotland.

For immigrants to the United States or elsewhere and first generation children of immigrants, please also use, as appropriate, categories such as

Categories in that form should be subcategories of larger categories such as:

• [[Category:Emigrants from Scotland]]
• [[Category:Immigrants to Ohio]]
• [[Category:Migrants from Scotland to the United States]] (''please put the "from" first - chronology!'')

It is preferable not to put individuals into those larger categories unless the country of origin is small or no more detailed information about the individual's movements is available. When those categories get a large number of individuals in them, we may try to create smaller, more usable, subcategories.
