Genealogy is the study of family histories and ancestral lines.

This category is the "top level", or the "primal ancestor", of our category thicket. As with human family trees, category paths can re-merge a couple of generations down and can undergo births and deaths that change the linkages.

Listings

For alphanumeric listings of most of our categories, see Special:Categories (which merely lists them and is not easy to use) and the category namespace (which has a facility for saying which part of the list you want to start at).

Those that are not subcategories of any other category appear alphanumerically in Special:Uncategorizedcategories, while categories that have been linked to but not edited are in Special:Wantedcategories in descending order of number of links; all of those should be given at least one parent category, and most should get two or more.
