There are a number of reasons why disambiguation pages might need to be split.

• The page contains both disambiguation and human one-name content — in this case, the one-name (surname or given name or both) may be split into a new article devoted to that name. See WP:WikiProject Anthroponymy for details.
• The page contains sufficient information on one or more topics to create a stub article.
