Dynamix originally started as a developer of games for the Commodore 64. Over time they developed games for a number of personal computer systems, with not only self-published titles, but also titles published by EA and Activision. In 1990 the company was bought by Sierra, where they developed some of their best known titles, including Red Baron and the Tribes series.

In 2001 Dynamix was closed in a restructuring of their parent company under Vivendi Universal.
