Emotional Communication differentiates from other forms of communication in that emotional communication utilizes empathic neural constructs, which exist in all higher species. Other communication, such as digital communication is specifically technical and non-empathic, but may occur between species either as character communication, or binary communication.

Abstracted concepts of computer communications, especially the "network layer stack" can be applied to help abstract emotional communication concepts, but the key complexities of organismic conceptualization, especially in the evolution of communication neurons, are far beyond technology.
