From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A Regierungsbezirk is an administrative subdivition of Germany, a subdivision of certain federal states (Bundesländer). Regierungsbezirke are themselves further divided into districts (Kreise or Landkreise) or independent cities, which have county status themselves (kreisfreie Städte or Stadtkreise).
