The company was founded as Interplay Productions, Inc. in Southern California in 1983 with Brian Fargo as president and three programmers, Jay Patel, Troy Worrell and Bill Heineman.
In 1998, Interplay went public, with shares sold on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, changing its name to "Interplay Entertainment Corp."
