Sega Meganet is an unsuccessful add-on to the Sega Mega Drive. It allowed players to download games from a subscription service using a phone line, similar in nature to the Sega Channel, as well as allowing online multiplayer in a select number of titles. It was initially planned for release in North America under the name Tele-Genesis, but this plan was quietly dropped after a cool reception in Japan.
Most Meganet titles were never seen outside Japan; many of the games were later released on the Sega CD in Japan as part of Sega Games Can Vol. 1 and Sega Games Can Vol. 2, while Fatal Labyrinth was released for the Sega Genesis in Europe and North America.
