From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Introduced in the second year of first generation of the Transformers, the Triple Changers were Transformers with three forms. The initial Triple Changers were the Decepticons Blitzwing and Astrotrain. In season 3 more Autobots (Broadside, Sandstorm and Springer) and a Decepticon (Octane) were sold as Triple Changers. After that no formal group were sold as Triple Changers, but many Transformers toys had three different modes, and many fans consider these honorary Triple Changers.

Although Transformers who combine with other Transformers might be considered to have 3 forms (robot, vehicle, and leg of a bigger robot, for instance), usually only individual forms are counted by fans for the purposes of being a Triplechangers.

Later Transformers would introduce toys with 4, 6 or even 10 modes each.
